Customer Success Story: Building a Stronger IFS Softeon WMS Knowledge Baseline

By

How K2S Education Solutions helped IFS Softeon’s own Solution Delivery team turn WMS training into an on-demand resource for implementation, support, and continuous learning.

About IFS Softeon Solution

IFS Softeon is a provider of warehouse management and supply chain execution solutions, supporting organizations through WMS implementations, enhancements, and ongoing operational initiatives.

For IFS Softeon's Solution Delivery team, maintaining a strong and consistent understanding of the WMS platform is essential. With teams supporting new implementations, aftermarket initiatives, and strategic projects, the ability to build and retain product knowledge has a direct impact on delivery and customer success.

The Challenge

WMS training has traditionally relied heavily on classroom sessions, onsite instruction, and knowledge passed from one person to another.

While effective in the moment, that knowledge can be difficult to retain and revisit. Users may not immediately have an opportunity to apply what they learned, while implementation timelines and day-to-day client demands can make it difficult to return to training when a question eventually arises.

For Softeon's team, there was an opportunity to create a more consistent and accessible foundation of Softeon WMS knowledge that users could return to whenever they needed it.

Justin had experienced these challenges both as a trainer and as a learner. His view was that technical knowledge becomes significantly more useful when users can apply it when the actual need arises.

For IFS Softeon, the opportunity was therefore larger than simply delivering another training course.

The goal was to create repeatable, accessible product knowledge that could support the organization as its WMS teams matured.

The Solution

K2S provided IFS Softeon's team with the Solutions Specialist Certification course, a self-paced training experience designed to give users a structured foundation in the WMS and a resource they could return to over time.

For Softeon's delivery organization, the course became more than individual training. Team members completed the course together as part of an internal initiative, with leadership participating alongside the team.

Two elements of the K2S education approach were particularly important to supporting long-term learning:

  1. Knowledge checks built into the learning experience
Lessons include embedded knowledge checks that validate understanding before learners continue. Rather than simply completing content, participants are asked to apply and confirm what they have learned, helping reinforce key concepts and improve knowledge retention.
  2. Training that evolves with the WMS
K2S reviews and updates the course content annually as Softeon WMS evolves. This gives learners access to training that remains aligned with the current platform and provides the organization with an education resource that continues to deliver value well beyond the initial certification.

Together, these elements gave IFS Softeon a flexible training model that could support both immediate knowledge development and ongoing enablement as the platform and organization continue to grow.

On-demand learning

Users can work through the material around existing project and client commitments, without being tied to a fixed classroom schedule or requiring the entire team to be available for training at the same time.

Knowledge that can be revisited

Training remains available after the initial learning experience, allowing users to return to specific topics when they encounter a question or need to perform a task.

A consistent baseline

The course establishes a common foundation of product knowledge across users, helping teams work from the same understanding of standard functionality.

Practical reference when users need it

Instead of relying solely on memory or another team member, users can return to the relevant training content alongside their work in the system.

The Results

The value of the training became clear even for experienced IFS Softeon users.

“I’ve been in the system for over a decade and there were things I was like, ‘Oh, I did not realize we could do that in that screen.’”

For his team, that reinforced the value of having a structured knowledge resource available even to experienced users.

The training also helped create a baseline level of knowledge that users could build upon as they gained more experience with the system.

Rather than treating training as a one-time event, IFS Softeon’s team could continue using the course as an ongoing reference.

What Made the Difference

For IFS Softeon's Solution Delivery team, the biggest difference was having knowledge available when it is needed, not just when training is delivered.

The ability to return to the material supports the way WMS teams actually work. A user may learn a function today but not need to use it until months later. Instead of relying on memory, notes, or another subject matter expert, the training provides a reference they can return to.

“I can still have that training available and have it side by side with my screens.”

That accessibility also creates an opportunity to build greater maturity across the organization, giving users a common baseline while allowing them to continue developing their knowledge.

Looking Ahead

For IFS Softeon, the Solutions Specialist Certification course represents a foundation for broader product education.

As users build a stronger baseline of knowledge, training can become more targeted and advanced. Justin noted the potential for more lessons could go deeper into configuration and the detailed work behind the system.

The broader opportunity is to move from training as a one-time implementation activity toward continuous WMS education and knowledge development.

For organizations managing multiple implementations, warehouses, and teams, that foundation can help make training more consistent while reducing reliance on individual experts to repeatedly deliver the same knowledge.

Invest in WMS knowledge that lasts.

K2S Education Solutions gives WMS teams structured, accessible training they can return to whenever they need it. Build a stronger product foundation, empower your users, and give your teams a knowledge resource that stays with them long after the training session ends.
