The Business Systems Manager (BSM) will lead a team of Business Systems Analysts and oversee the implementation and support of WMS solutions. The BSM will report to the Director of Consulting Services and will play a key role in strategic planning, process improvement, and customer engagement. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in WMS, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

 

The BSM is expected to travel up to 35% annually to work onsite with customers, primarily in a warehouse environment.

 

Responsibilities

 

Leadership

  • Lead a team of a few Direct Reports with varied work experience levels: From Solutions Architects to Business Systems Analysts
  • Guide, mentor and be responsible for annual performance reviews for all direct reports.
  • Oversee the design and delivery of WMS implementations, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Facilitate business diagnostics, process analysis, and design workshops to develop solution designs.
  • Author functional specifications and solution design documents that support business requirements.
  • Guide customers in deployment options, ensuring optimal choices are made.

Project Management

  • Assist Project Managers with detailed project planning, including task breakdown and scheduling.
  • Identify and communicate project risks, escalating issues as necessary to maintain project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Provide technical program management for customer IT organizations.
  • Recognize and highlight opportunities for incremental revenue with existing customers.

Interface/Communications

  • Advise customers on WMS best practices and process methodologies.
  • Provide non-technical end user support during ‘go-live’ and hyper-care periods.
  • Offer escalation and advisory support during critical ‘go-live’ phases.
  • Conduct assessments related to upgrades, performance, ‘go-live’ readiness, and environments readiness.
  • Ensure effective knowledge transfer to customer project teams to maximize success.
  • Present WMS architecture and deployment strategies to prospective customers, including C-level executives.

Must Have Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio (or similar applications like Synthis or Lucid Charts).
  • Expertise in WMS configurations and version differences.
  • Advanced understanding of warehouse operations and the ability to document processes with flow diagrams, SOPs, or training materials.
  • Basic SQL skills, including the ability to write simple scripts.
  • Ability to troubleshoot minor technical issues by reviewing code and trace files.
  • Knowledge of enterprise data integration with host systems and WMS applications.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with WMS implementations, preferably Blue Yonder WMS; experience with Softeon, HighJump or Manhattan may be considered.
  • Experience implementing WMS solutions at multiple sites, serving as a key resource for technology and business challenges.
  • Deep functional, technical, and industry expertise with a strong understanding of supply chain best practices.
  • Excellent presentation skills for user, management, and executive audiences.
  • Demonstrated outstanding written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 35% and work on customer sites in a warehouse environment.
  • Fluency in English
